The Best Ombre Hair Guide You Need
Is your current hairdo just bland? Are you looking for a good, low-maintenance hairdo that’ll make you look trendy?
Why don’t you try Ombre!?
Ombre hair has been in trend for 5 years and the trend is still going strong as ever! Almost every celebrity has gotten Ombre hair at some point in these five years and many others are joining in every day.
So why are you slacking?
The best thing about the Ombre style is that it’s versatile, it looks good with long hair, and with short! You can use almost any color you want and what not!
Okay, I’m Getting an Ombre! But What Should I Keep In Mind!?
Ombre hairs are cool when you do them right. But how to get your Ombre right!? Just keep in mind these:
1. Work!
Blue Ombre hair may look great on Kylie Jenner, but if you have a traditional 9-5 job, then you should go for something more conventional.
Don’t worry! You can still get Ombre hair by picking a color that is more….err…natural.
After all, you wouldn’t want to buy a car from someone who’s got a tattoo on their face! You know what I mean?
2. It Should Complement Your Skin Tone!!
Your hair color should complement your skin tone and coloring. Imagine a girl with black hair and dark skin getting bleach-blonde Ombre, yikes!
My advice? Choose a color that’ll look good with your hair color as well as your skin tone. Talk to your friends before getting anything done, they’ll help you out a lot…!
But wait, there’s more…
3. Got Your Hair Colored Before? You’ll Need Color Correction…
Bummer? I know, I know..
You must be wondering why. I’ll tell you.
According to Jean DeWinter from Hair crafters, color correction is done to help you with hair mistakes that you’ve made in your past. Like when you colored your hair purple in freshman year? Well, as if the humiliation wasn’t enough, right!
So if you have a particular color in mind for you amazing Ombre hair, then to get the exact results you’ll have to get your hair color corrected.
4. Choose Your New Haircut!
New year- new me, am I right!?
Ombre looks amazing with any haircut, so your current one will look good with Ombre hair. I’d suggest you get yourself an old trim if you’d want to stick to your current haircut (booooring).
If you’re going for a new haircut altogether then flip through magazines and social media to find your new hair style. You can also use this guide from WikiHow.

5. Draw The Line Where Will Your Ombre Start?
Rachel Krause from Style Caster says that:
It’s your choice as to where your Ombre should begin. You can look pictures up online to see exactly where you’d like it to begin.
On to the last one!!!
6. Keep ‘em Looking Fresh
We’ve talked about everything but maintenance, so let’s begin…
Good news!
Ombre hair really doesn’t need a lot of maintenance. Unlike global hair color, there’s absolutely no root problem for traditional Ombre hair. All you need to worry about is maintaining your color.
My tip? Choose a good shampoo and conditioner made for colored hair.
Your Ombre will last for a long time!
I Got That, So What’s Next!?
Ombre Hair Color Trends!
Let’s get to the fun part!
Ombre comes in all colors, styles, etc. etc. And I’ll be going over some major Ombre hair color trends in 2023.
Ready? Set? Go!!!
1. Silver
I know what you’re thinking! “Silver is so grandma!” but this is in! They look great, especially on people that have dark hair!
Although consider yourself warned, the stylist behind this amazing look says, “the upkeep is real but sometimes it’s worth it!”
I, personally like this color its…graceful.
2. Auburn
You must be rolling your eyes looking at this one…
I know, I know…
I included this because this is the color that defined Ombre for years!
I’m sure your friends from work with this color can vouch for that!
3. Pastel Pink
Let me guess, you must be thinking, “Pink Ombre hair!? Are you serious!??”
Yes, I am!
You can officially be a Barbie girl now. Pink Ombre hair is in and it looks amazing if you’ve got light blonde hair. I envy you!
What do you think? Would you go for pink!? I would…
4. Blue
Blue Ombre hair, according to me is way too cool.
The lighter shades of blue look amazing with light hair and darker shades look as amazing with dark hair.
And blue is always in trend!
5. Red
Do you miss the time when red highlights were in?
Great news!
Red Ombre hair is in and they aren’t just for badass rocker chicks. You can choose a saturation you like best and rock your red hair like a boss!
6. Purple
As if that’s not enough, another popular Ombre hair shade is purple.
Dark purple is an amazing shade for women with dark hair (like myself!) to get some color in without having to get bleach and harsh chemicals!
And purple is in trend 2023!
I’m sold! You?
Wait…Ombre hair has different types!?
Read on to know more…
There are actually two types of Ombre hair! I was just as shocked as you are right now!
Let’s get into it…
Types to Ombre Hair
1. Traditional Ombre Hair
Traditional Ombre is something that we’re used to by now, darker roots and lighter tips.
These are perfect for dark-haired girls, less maintenance and…
Bye-bye roots!
2. Reverse Ombre Hair
Reverse Ombre hair, on the other hand, has darker tips and lighter roots. Perfect for women with light hair.
All that’s good, but I don’t have a lot of money to spend on my hair right now.
Wait for it..
Ombre Hair At Home!? Seriously!
Getting any sorts of things done to your hair can be expensive, I’ve been there. And sometimes your heart says new hair and your wallet says NO!
Good news! Ombre hair can be done at home!!
Who says you can’t look fab on a budget!?
Let’s get you that Ombre hair style!
Things You’ll Need.
Let’s start with a list of things you’ll need for the project: new hair!
- A couple of hair ties
- A hair coloring kit of your choice
- An old tee you don’t care much about
- Some plastic gloves (the disposable kind!)
- Comb and brush
- Shampoo and conditioner
Let’s Get Started!
Got everything you need? Good.
Let’s get right to it! Follow the steps to get yourself a new hair color!
1. Brush Your Hair First
Brushing your hair will get out those tangles that you’ve been avoiding and help you distribute color evenly throughout your hair.
You’ve gotta make sure you got ‘em all!
2. Put On The Ugly Old Tee
If you’re the kind of person who doesn’t give a damn about their clothes, then you may skip this one.
Others should wear an old tee (preferably one that you were going to throw out anyway) so that your clothes aren’t soiled by the products.
On to the next one…
3. Bleach Your Hair!
Put on your latex gloves and get to bleaching your hair!
- Add bleach starting at the end and work your way up to the area you want the fade to start
- Apply bleach evenly on both sides and of your hair and make sure to coat all the hair you want to color!
Read a magazine while you wait for your bleach to set.. My favorite is Cosmo!
4. Color Your Hair!
Make sure your hair are dry before you start coloring and then section off your hair and tie them up with elastic bands.
Prepare your color and apply and wait for it to set again. Maybe watch an episode or two of Friends while you’re at it.
5. And that’s all folks…
Remember to wash the color out properly to avoid damage to your new hair look. And apply conditioner like there’s no tomorrow because bleach dries your hair out
What does this all finally mean!
Ombre hair is perfect for girls who want to style up their hair but don’t have a lot of time to maintain them. Ombre hair is fun, come in many colors like pink, purple, red, blue, etc. and are in trend right now.
There are a few things to keep in mind when considering an Ombre hairdo:
- Your professional demands (can you wear pink hair to work?)
- Your skin tone and coloring (which shade of pink will suit your hair color the best?)
- Need for color correction (if your hair have been previously colored)
- The haircut you’re going for (Ombre hair on a bob?)
- The fade line where your natural color and Ombre meets.
Ombre hair comes in two styles; the traditional Ombre and the reverse Ombre. Reverse Ombre works best for people that have light hair and want dark tips and the opposite is true for traditional Ombre and dark hair.
You don’t need to spend a lot of money on your Ombre hair, you can get them right at home for a fraction of the price!
And that’s all that you need to know about Ombre hair!
