Smoking Kratom!? Is That Even Possible! Know The Health Impact

Smoking Kratom!? Is That Even Possible!

Wondering if you can smoke Kratom?

Well, it’s one of the questions that I’ll be answering today!

There are several people out there who claim that you can smoke Kratom or even burn it as incense to feel its effects.

In fact, some people have reported online that they have been successful in smoking Mitragyna Speciosa.

Then, what’s the problem?

The thing is that most experts feel that smoking kratom is probably not the best way to feel the effects of this particular plant.

According to certain sources, you need to smoke more than 20 grams to even register the effect!

Of course, this amount can put a heavy hit on your wallet!

But, there are a few other things you should know about smoking kratom.

Let’s find out!

KRATOM: What Is It?

Kratom is a versatile herb indigenous to Southeast Asia and Thailand.

Kratom leaves produce complex stimulant and opioid-like analgesic effects. This plant is available in green, white and red variants, all known to provide relaxing and sedative effects.

This herb is used for calming, relaxation and boosting energy levels.

Can I Smoke Kratom, Or Are You Just Kidding Me!?

Is smoking Kratom even possible!? And how!?

Yes, you can take some Kratom leaves or even raisins, crush them, and roll them like a joint, and you know the rest, right?

No!?

It’s simple.

After that, you light them up on fire and smoke them.

But then again, you can do the exact same thing to any natural product from eucalyptus to oregano!

But this doesn’t mean that it’ll produce any of those mind-altering side effects that you are afraid of!

So, if you wish to smoke Kratom leaves or raisins to get high, chances are that you’ll be wasting your supply of Kratom.

Wondering what you should be doing?

Well, I’m here to tell you everything.

So, What Should You Do Instead?

One of the important factors that help determine how you should use the Kratom tree to get high is to maximize the absorption of any of its active alkaloids into your bloodstream.

Did I just lose you there?

I’ll explain what I just said.

Well, Kratom contains active ingredients, alkaloids mitragynine, mitraphylline, and 7-hydroxymitragynine.

But that’s not all!

It also contains 22 other alkaloids!

Now, these compounds are the ones that need to be circulated in your bloodstream so that they can be carried to receptor sites (i.e., your neurons) within the nervous system.

Note: When these alkaloids are circulated and delivered to their appropriate receptors(throughout the body), only then they will start to get effective.

I’ll explain this, too.

Think about it this way, “You smoke a cigarette, but how do you get that hit?”.

  • Well, the nicotine in that cigarette is transported quickly when you inhale it.
  • The nicotine reaches the passageways in your lungs and then enters your bloodstream.
  • Finally, it reaches the nicotinic receptors present in your brain in about 7 seconds after the first puff!

So you see, in this case, smoking tobacco is an effective way to get high from the tobacco leaves. (But, then it is an effective way to destroy your health too!)

Kratom is known to stay in your system for about 6 hours ( based on its detectability in the urine test).

Then, Why Is Smoking Kratom A Problem?

Well, the answer to this boils down to just one thing: Kratom leaves contain a much lower concentration of the active ingredients aka the alkaloids compared to the concentration of nicotine in cigarettes.

Also, the active ingredients present in it are unable to reach the brain via bloodstream which is essential to achieve the high.

So, this then brings up the question: Is smoking an effective delivery system for Kratom alkaloids in resin or leaves?

If you go by the evidence, then it’s really not.

Now, this claim isn’t really backed up by any scientific studies. But, the anecdotal documentation provided by historical texts and the positive reviews by several users support this statement.

Let’s get into that, shall we?

One of the clear indications of this incompatibility of the use of Kratom for smoking could be that the traditional populations of Thailand have never documented smoking this plant.

Now you must be wondering why this is even relevant?

Hold on… I’ll tell you.

People of Thailand have been known to smoke enough substances to know exactly how to do it. This means that they would’ve been at least a little curious about smoking this as well (while first harvesting this plant).

👉 But the fact is that in Thailand, (a place where Kratom has been used for centuries) people still prefer eating Kratom rather than smoking it.

Still, don’t believe me?

Let’s talk about the rest of the world.

According to the logs shared online by the people who have tried smoking Kratom, it’s said that you need to take about half an ounce or even more so that you can feel the effects.

Now, this amounts to 14 grams of Kratom leaf.

And this large amount is almost next to impossible( to smoke easily).

The ideal dosage is  2 – 4 grams when taken orally.

Now, compare it to 14 grams and you can do the math.

So, what I want to say is that it is safe for you to physically smoke Kratom, but that being said it’s really not an effective method to get the desired effects.

Plus, it’ll make you re-stock your Kratom supply more than usual!

But I Wanna Smoke Kratom!

Well, If you really want to smoke Kratom for just the sake of it, then I have a few tips that might help your stubborn self a little:

  • Some people have personally recommended that you should smoke Kratom extract instead as it is higher in alkaloid content.
  • But, that being said, you’ll still have to smoke a larger dose than you’d have to take if you were to use it in tea.
  • Some people recommended that you add this extract to some tobacco leaves and mix it with some other products that can also be smoked.

The effect that you’ll get by smoking Kratom will still be lighter or much subtler than if you were to devour Kratom orally and smoke a cigarette at the same time.

(Now, I’ll be a party pooper and say it again…)

If you’re thinking about smoking Kratom, then you should know that there are some negative health effects associated with it.

Inhaling the smoke alone can do a lot of damage to your lungs.

When it comes to Kratom, you are probably better off with just swallowing it than smoking it off.

So, What Should I Take Away From This?

You can smoke Kratom.

But, Is it really worth the effort and money?

I don’t think so.

Not only would you need to use about ten times the normal dosage of Kratom to feel even the slightest of effects, you’ll also risk damaging your lungs.

At the End

I would like to conclude by quoting these very inspiring words:

“When it comes to Smoking- Be a Quitter.”
